Douglas Bernheim receives Honorary Doctorate from UZH

As the University of Zurich celebrates its 191st anniversary, economist Prof. Dr. Douglas Bernheim was awarded his honorary doctorate.

The academic community gathered in celebration at the Dies Academicus of the University of Zurich, marking its 191st anniversary. As one of the highlights, Prof. Dr. Douglas Bernheim from Stanford University was conferred an honorary doctorate by the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics after formally being recommended by the Department of Economics. This recognition was bestowed in acknowledgment of his significant research contributions.

Prof. Bernheim has been a key figure in the field of behavioral public policy. His work in this area focuses on the study of human choice mistakes and their implications for public policy. At the heart of this are questions such as: When should the government correct people’s mistakes? And when are such interventions improving people’s welfare? His substantial contributions have played a pivotal role in redefining the landscape of economics.
