8th ECONnect Event: The future of development cooperation
A packed hall, lively debate, and fresh ideas — the 8th ECONnect event on What’s next in development cooperation? brought together experts and engaged guests for an evening full of inspiration.

At yesterday's event, the Department of Economics and the guests of the 8th ECONnect event had the opportunity to discuss key questions on the future of development cooperation in times of global turmoil. The participants were particularly pleased with the contributions from high-caliber speakers such as Dina Pomeranz, UBS Foundation Associate Professor of Applied Economics, Ambassador Christian Frutiger (SDC) and Melchior Lengsfeld (Helvetas), who provided valuable input from academia, politics and practice.
The focus was on current challenges such as the planned cuts in official development assistance and the question of how progress made in global poverty reduction can be secured in the long term. From an economic perspective, a variety of sometimes controversial approaches emerged, which were critically reflected upon in an interdisciplinary dialog.
