Research
I am a psychologist and neuroscientist who studies the “social brain” as well as core neural mechanisms of information processing. Most of my research combines functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) with paradigms and methods from different disciplines such as social and experimental psychology and behavioural economics. Current topics of interest include sources of prosocial behaviour (emotion-based motives, norm-based motives etc), intergroup processes, and the neural integration of both social and non-social information.
Short CV
Currently, I am supported by the Society in Science - The Branco Weiss Fellowship (www.society-in-science.org). I did my undergraduate studies and Masters in Psychology at the Humboldt-University of Berlin and the City College of New York and conducted my PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience at the Max-Planck-Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience in Leipzig. As a postdoc, I was based in Cambridge, Frankfurt/Main and the University of California, Berkeley, supported by the Excellence program of the German Research Foundation (DFG; “Emmy Noether” Program).
I am married and we have one son (born 2011).
